This is my 4th straight pair of Brooks Walkers. I've been
buying them regularly for the past 10 years. When you find a
winner, why change? The only difference with this pair is
that I wanted something that would go good with kaki slacks
while in Europe so I got the Brown new-buck ones. The are
true to form. Excellent just like the three black leather
pairs I've bought in the past. These are excellent quality
shoes that are durable and fit extremely comfortably out of
the box. I generally get 2 years of wear out of them,
wearing them 5 days a week spring-fall before the old pair
becomes my around the house work shoe and I get a new pair
for 'best'. I'll never stop buying them as long as I have
feet and they are still available.

I tried to replace my Saucony Progrid Stabli LE 4 with a
similar shoe and these Brooks addiction walkers looked like
the same shoe. Problem right from the get go... they fit
tight even though the box said 4 e... I pulled the inserts
out and sure enough they said 3e... tight fitting shoes are
uncomfortable... they shouldn't sell 3e for 4e shoes or at
the very least don't market them that way. Second concern
was the inserts lacked breath ability so I took the old ones
from the Saucony's and put them in the the addiction
walkers... much better and not as warm. These Addiction
walkers have a weaved material on the inside that looks like
a nylon or at least they feel like that... still way too
warm. The walking platform is stiff and lacks a good cushion
feel... it looks like the walking shoe industry is going to
a generic one size fits all attitude... apparently no one
wants to market a superior shoe to people who suffer with
the wide foot syndrome. The profit margin is too small...
Rock port made the best walking shoe in the world with the
Vibram soles... they fell by the wayside after a new
improved version come out... looks to me Saucony fell victim
to profitabity. So why don't I send them back... because I
need a new pair of shoes to wear ... I'll try to stretch
them with a pair of wood stretchers... replace the inserts
with ones that breath and live with the fact that good
walking shoes are a part of the past.

These shoes are comfortable for me. They are roomy inside to
allow for extra insole or orthotics. I may add a soft
insole. The stability of these soles was important because I
have to be very careful about balance when I walk. I don't
see any advantage in the heavy padding of the tongue - I
have a high vamp, so would have preferred a flat tongue so
that the laces tied down smoothly close on top of my foot.
The all-over padding and the width of the sole for stability
may make these look a size larger than my regular shoes.

Due to a disability, my balance is poor and I need a very
stable shoe. I had purchased a pair of these at a
traditional store a few years ago and loved them. They are
very comfortable and sturdy. When I saw the same shoe on
your website at a great price, I ordered a pair, since my
current pair was looking a little worn and scuffed. I was
very pleased with everything - fit, comfort, price,
shipping, ease of ordering.

In spite of being quite fit and active, in my mid 60s I
started having aching hips at night. I invested in an
expensive new mattress but it brought no relief. I finally
figured out that the problem was coming from my feet. I got
expensive orthotics and Brooks Addiction Walkers and the
problem went away! When the first pair wore out I used my
orthotics with other walking shoes and the problem returned.
I finally realized that what I need is both the orthotics
and these shoes! I wear them every day, replace them about
every six months, and never have any hip or other pain. I
would note that I normally wear a 9 1/2 narrow shoe and
these are 10 B (or medium). I wear heavy socks and it works.
I love these shoes!!

I have bunions, plantar facilitias, arthritis in both feet
and I walk two energetic dogs over 4 miles per day. Not just
any shoe will enable me to do this. I've used New Balance
before but after my daughter bought a pair of Brooks for
running and sang their praises, I decided to try a pair of
walkers for myself. So glad I did! These babies are the most
comfortable shoes I've ever put on my picky feet! The
softness of the leather help mold the shoe to the shape of
my feet and the the support on all fronts keep my going on
my daily walks and points in between! I feared ordering the
tan to keep neutral for all seasons but hated the idea of
looking too orthopedic. Not to worry! The styling makes my
size 8 foot look really small! And stylish!! Strongly
recommend them!! |
